The Redmond High boys’ swim and dive team rebounded from a disappointing showing at the 4A Kingco meet with solid performances at last weekend’s Sea-King District II meet at Juanita Pool.

Diver Phillip Klassen, a freshman and younger brother of last year’s state champion Max Klassen, earned a state spot and finished third with 335.55 points behind Inglemoor senior Spencer Moore (374.50) and Garfield’s Alec Ginn (337.60).

Freshman Michael Pavlov snuck into the final heat of the 100 free event by six hundredths of a second and finished sixth in 53.28 seconds, but missed the state cut.

The 200-yard free relay team of Pavlov, Will Young, Tyler Bennett and Kevin Creekmore finished sixth in 1:37.93. In the meet’s final event, the 400-yard free relay, the Redmond squad of Pavlov, Young, freshman Nicholas Kodati and Creekmore once again earned the final spot in the championship heat and finished sixth in 3:37.58. However, neither relay team advanced to state. Klassen will be Redmond’s lone state participant.

Redmond finished seventh out of the 12 4A Kingco teams at the district meet.
