Local runners compete at Twilight Invitational

Bear Creek's Olivia Markezich led the Grizzly girls in her debut cross-country race of the season, capturing fourth in 19:12 in the 1B-2A division last Saturday at the Twilight Invitational at the Cedarcrest Golf Course in Marysville. It was a tight race between the second- through fifth-place finishers.

In other local results at the event, Redmond’s JV boys frosh/soph team took first; Redmond’s JV girls frosh/soph team took third; Redmond’s JV boys junior/senior team took third; Redmond’s JV girls junior/senior team took second; Redmond’s varsity girls took fifth and Redmond’s varsity boys took eighth in the 3A-4A division.

Top Redmond runners were George Cretu (16:12.6), Emmanuel Beku (17:20.2) and Brian Granillo (17:41.2) on the boys’ side, and Sierra Baker (19:56.9), Krystal Brodsky (21:03.8) and Nicole Pangborn (21:08.7) on the girls’ side.
