The Redmond High football team couldn’t stop the run last Friday on the road against the Edmonds-Woodway Warriors, falling 34-7 in a nonleague game.

The Mustangs’ lone score came in the fourth quarter, as Zack Wheat launched a 39-yarder to receiver Nicolaj La Cour.

For the game, the Warriors outgained the Mustangs 266 yards to 55 on the ground, with both teams struggling at quarterback, going a combined 10-for-31 with three interceptions.

The Mustangs (0-4, 0-8) have one more chance for a win in their season-ending game against Ballard, which will be a matinee at Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 2 p.m.

 

Owls’ soccer routs Bellevue Christian

The Overlake girls ran their league record to 11-2-0 (13-2-0 overall) with a 8-0 thrashing of the Vikings on Thursday afternoon at Marymoor Park.

Five different players: Adrianna Gildner (two goals) Tess Edenholm (two goals), Jenay Brown, Katie Hill and Kelsey D’Ewart scored for the Owls, who also had the benefit of a Viking own goal in the first half.

Catherine Cunningham and Zoe Pinczower combined for the shutout in goal, and the team will finish up its league season tomorrow at home against University Prep at 3:30 p.m.
