Mustang sophomore Brandon Burditt scored on a passed ball in the sixth to give Redmond a temporary lead, but the Spartans feasted on the Mustangs’ relief pitching, scoring four times in the sixth, highlighted by Connor Gilchrist’s bases-loaded single that drove in two.

Redmond had the tying run at the plate, but could not close the gap as Hendron had to settle for a no-decision after five scoreless innings and striking out eight.

The Mustangs dropped to 0-2 in league play and 0-4 overall.

 

Redmond girls’ golf routs Issaquah

The Mustangs’ girls’ golf team had no trouble defeating Issaquah in a home matchup at Bear Creek Country Club on Thursday, winning by 52 strokes 245-297.

Keira O’Hearn led all players with a 6-over-par 42 for medalist honors, followed by Casie Helgeson with 48 and Allison Hunt with 49.

 

Mustang tennis nets win over Bothell

The Redmond High tennis team dropped just one match each in singles and doubles action on Thursday, beating the Cougars 5-2 in a 4A Kingco match.

No. 1 singles Sarah Du was dominant in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Colleen Byrne, and No. 3 Priya Ganeson held off Morgan Milner 6-4, 7-5 and Meg Holtzinger took care of Tammy Tarhini 6-1, 6-4.

In doubles, the team of Marissa Craig and Foye Lafond came from behind to win their match 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, and Haley Blatter and Erin Frieland also emerged victorious 6-3, 7-5.

 

Bear Creek tennis falls to Annie Wright

The Lady Grizzlies hosted Annie Wright School at Marymoor Park yesterday and were able to salvage one match in a 4-1 loss to the Gators.

Winning for Bear Creek was the No. 1 doubles team of Katie Petrin and Emily McBride, coming from behind to beat Margaret Taylor and Leslie Bauska 4-6, 6-2, 10-3 (tiebreaker).
