Overlake’s boys soccer team defeated Hoquiam, 2-0, in the opening round of the 1A state playoffs on May 18. Harrison Mickle and LT Cosmos tallied for the Owls, 14-2 overall.

The Owls will next take on Seattle Academy in the quarterfinals at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the Starfire Sports complex in Tukwila.

Overlake was the 1A Emerald City League champion and features all-league first teamers Matt Slee, Loucas Tsilas and Luke Wetherbee and second-teamers Nathan Cunningham and Esteban Sanchez.

Sanchez was league rookie of the year and Bob Bristol was coach of the year.

For Bear Creek, Sam Humphries was a first-teamer and Connor Pittman was a second-teamer.
