The Redmond High School (RHS) cross country program invites community members to run with the boys and girls teams during the seventh annual Redmond Community 5K Race & 1K Fun Run at 10 a.m. Aug. 29.

The 15-year-old linkster not only won the 14-15 age group with a score of 147, he edged Seattle’s Joe Klemencic (first place with 149 in the 16-17 age group) for the overall top spot at the Washington Junior Golf Association (WJGA) District 2 Championships at Inglewood Golf Club in Kenmore.
After winning the District 9 championship on July 8, Redmond North Little League’s 11-year-old all-stars went on to take second place in the state tournament in Vancouver on July 25.
The Elite Diamonds Girls Fastpitch 12U team finished second in the B Division at the NSA Western World Series Tournament held in Snohomish County. The team concluded a successful season, taking first place in USSSA state and fourth place in NSA state.
Amanda Gardiner, a third-degree black belt in taekwondo, won gold at the recent ISKA U.S Open World Martial Arts Championships at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Fla. The mixed-martial-arts event attracted nearly 7,000 athletes, coaches and family members from around the world, including teams from Germany, Australia, South Africa, Argentina, Brazil and Jamaica.
Redmond-based Crossfire Select GU16 McLaughlin took second place at the National U.S. President’s Cup soccer tournament in Kansas City, Mo.
Redmond Softball’s 10/11 All Stars went undefeated and won the District 9 championship title. The girls defeated Eastlake/Sammamish/Issaquah in the championship game, 17-4.
The Crossfire Select U16 girls soccer team won the Regional Presidents Cup on June 14 and have accepted an invitation to compete for the national title in Overland Park, Kan., July 9-12.

Redmond Lacrosse Club’s high school team, which consisted of players from Redmond and Cedarcrest, concluded a challenging season last month. The team got off to a slow start with a new coach and recruited six new players to fill the roster of 11 players.
The Elite Diamonds Girls Fastpitch 12U team defeated the Forks Spartans, 8-0, to win the USSSA State Tournament held at Dacca Park in Fife last weekend. The team went 5-0 with four shutouts and only allowed six runs; they outscored opponents, 61-6.

American University senior Adelaide Tillinghast won the Division II Individual Time Trial at the 2015 USA Cycling Collegiate Road National Championships last month in Asheville, N.C. Tillinghast clinched her first national championship in the last race of her collegiate racing career.
Last month, the Crossfire Select U16 girls soccer team won the Washington Youth Soccer Presidents Cup with a 2-1 penalty kick shootout victory against Kent United. The team won all six tournament games, scoring 17 goals and only giving up two en route to the title.
