Prep Report: Bear Creek boys beat Crosspoint, stay perfect

The Bear Creek boys' soccer team continued its perfect season last Friday afternoon at home, finishing with a flourish to beat Crosspoint Academy 5-2 in a Sea-Tac B League contest.

Mark Phillips opened up the scoring in the 21st minute off Gabe Rongve’s assist, and nine minutes later Tom Postings fed Luke Blankenbeckler for the Grizzlies’ second goal.

Crosspoint, however, answered both times as the score was knotted 2-2 at the beginning of the second half on Austin Nation’s goal.

Bear Creek would have the final say as Postings (55th minute), Phillips (57th) and Jesse Leuenberger (72nd) all scored unassisted to put the game away.

With the win, Bear Creek remained perfect a 6-0-0 in league and 10-0-0 overall.

OWL VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS SEATTLE ACADEMY

The Overlake School volleyball was at the top of its game against Seattle Academy last Friday night, as the Owls swept the Cardinals in three games, 25-18, 27-25, 25-13, in 1A Emerald City League match.

For Overlake, Kirsten Parris led the offense with 10 kills. Teammate Lauren Bazley added five kills and three aces. On defense, Louise Chouinard recorded 12 digs.

With the win, Overlake improved to 2-5 in league play and 4-6 overall).

GILDNER HAT TRICK PROPELS LADY OWLS

Adrianna Gildner had a career night last Friday for The Overlake School girls’ soccer team at Robinswood Park in Bellevue as she scored three times — all in the first half — in a 4-0 Owl shutout.

Sophomore Quinn Phillips assisted two of Gildner’s goals and scored her own, unassisted, in the 30th minute before a scoreless second half preserved the 1A Emerald City League victory.

Zoe Pinczower earned the shutout, her fourth of the season.

REDMOND ROUTED BY ISSAQUAH

No. 6 Issaquah made quick work of the Redmond football last Friday night at Issaquah as the Eagles flew to a 48-3 blowout win in the 4A Kingco Crest Division contest.

Redmond was able to keep it close in the first quarter when Chris Schumacher booted a 43-yard field goal to make it 7-3, but from then on it was all Issaquah as the Eagles scored six more times including a 60-yard punt return by star running back Evan Peterson.

Eagles’ quarterback Ethan Kalin passed for four touchdowns in the win.

With the loss, Redmond dropped to 0-3 in division play and 2-4 overall.
