Prep Report: Lady Owls’ soccer stays red-hot

The Overlake School girls' soccer team continued their hot streak with a 3-0 shutout of Bellevue Christian in a 1A Emerald City League contest Thursday afternoon at the Overlake School.

Sophomore Adrianna Gildner played a part in all three goals, recording two assists, and scoring a goal in the 34th minute.

Fellow sophomore Quinn Phillips, who assisted Gildner’s goal, scored herself in the 53rd minute, and Caroline Roush put one in as the clock was winding down.

Sophomore goalie Zoe Pinczower earned the shutout.

With the win, the league-leading Owls have now scored 13 goals in their last three games, improved to 3-1 in league and 4-1 overall.

OWLS’ VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS NORTHWEST

The Overlake School volleyball team earned its first win of the year Thursday night, defeating Northwest School 3-0 in a 1A Emerald City League matchup.

After overwhelming the Fighting Salmon in the opener 25-10, the Owls were able to finish strong in victories of 25-19 and 25-18 to put the match away.

For Overlake, Emilee Chombard shined on offense, notching a team-high seven kills and service aces, with Kirsten Parris adding five kills, three digs, and two aces.

The win improved Overlake to 1-2 in Emerald City League play.

BEAR CREEK OFFENSE CRUSHES CRUSADERS

The Bear Creek School volleyball team had no trouble against Tacoma Baptist on Thursday night, defeating the Crusaders 25-17, 25-19, 25-9 in straight games in its Sea-Tac 2B league opener.

The Grizzlies’ offense went on a hitting spree, as Dominique DuBois, Maddie Easley and Elizabeth Fernandez each notched six kills, followed by Makena Schoene with five.

Setter Michele Brown was stellar with 10 aces to go along with 19 assists, and Nikki Peterson and Morgan Cadigan led the team with five digs apiece.

The win improved Bear Creek to 2-0 overall.

MUSTANG GOLF GOES LOW

The Redmond High boys’ golf team had a great team match against Ballard on Thursday afternoon at Bear Creek Country Club, sweeping the top five places en route to a 191-229 victory. Charlie Mroz and Oliver Rudnicki tied for the medalist spot with 1-over 37s, followed by Cole Helgeson (38). Brazilian exchange student Henrique Pombo contributed with a 39, and Jimbo Curtin carded a 40.
