The Mustangs led off the game with a first-inning RBI double from Christine Ho, and then erupted for five more runs in the fifth to take a 10-4 lead.

The Knights responded, plating four in the bottom of the fifth on five hits and four more in the sixth, with the Mustangs going down 1-2-3 in the seventh.

In the losing effort, Ho had a career night, going 4-for-5 with seven RBIs.

The loss dropped the Mustangs to 4-2 in 4A Kingco league play and 7-3 overall. The team next plays against No. 1 Woodinville, on the road, on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Overlake lacrosse downs Lake Sammamish in shootout

The Overlake School girls’ lacrosse team defeated cross-town rival Lake Sammamish on Wednesday night in a Division II girls’ matchup, 15-10.

Grace Grubb led the offense for the Owls, scoring five goals and one assisted, followed by Sarah Silverman with three scores and Katie Hill with two.

The win elevated Overlake to 5-1 in league play and second place overall behind undefeated Bellevue East (6-0).

Redmond tennis beats Mount Si

The Redmond High girls’ tennis team nearly swept Mount Si in a rescheduled 4A Kingco tennis match on Wednesday, winning 6-1.

All four singles matches were victorious for the Mustangs with Sarah Du (6-1, 6-0), Raluca Ifrim (6-4, 6-1), Sophie Xu (6-4, 6-0) and Dana Simmons (6-4, 6-3) all winning their matches in straight sets.

In doubles, No. 2 Marissa Craig and Sara Boye won 6-4, 6-1, and No. 3 Anna Anzlin and Meg Holtzinger completed the rout with a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Mustangs baseball suffers first league loss

Inglemoor ace Dustin Doucette was at his best on Tuesday night, handcuffing the potent Redmond offense in a 7-1 victory over No. 2 Redmond.

Doucette struck out 13 in a complete-game effort while scattering six hits to earn his fourth win on the season.

On offense, Zach Abbruzza was the only Mustang to have a multi-hit game, going 2-for-4 and driving in his team’s lone run with a first-inning double.

The Mustangs (9-1, 12-4) will look to get back on track against struggling Eastlake (0-10, 3-11) at home on Thursday night at 6 p.m.

Skyline beats Redmond tennis

Despite impressive wins from Redmond High’s No. 1 and 2 singles players, the team was swept the rest of the way in a 5-2 loss to the Spartans in Tuesday’s 4A Kingco tennis match.

Highlights for the Mustangs included Sarah Du sweeping Kristen Park 6-0, 6-0, and No. 2 Raluca Ifrim sporting a comeback victory against Laura Parsons, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.

Overlake girls edge Annie Wright

Playing at home on Monday in a 1A Emerald City League tennis match, the Overlake girls’ team beat Annie Wright 3-2.

Winning for the Owls were Caroline Roush at No. 1 singles, escaping the second set with a 6-1, 7-5 win; the No. 1 doubles team of Claire Bond and Emily Walter outlasting Ana Madiener and Kari Ayers 6-4. 6-4; and the No. 2 doubles team of Elaine Kissel and Christina Kuklinski winning over Camille Priebe and Leslie Bauska 6-1, 6-3.

Mustang golfers extend streak to 82

The Redmond High girls’ golf team won its 82nd consecutive 4A Kingco match on Tuesday, routing the Issaquah Eagles at Snoqualmie Falls 208-274.

Two Mustang players, Kelly Kennewick (37, medalist) and Keira O’Hearn (39) broke 40 at the par-36 layout, with Stephanie Schoeppel (43) Makayla Walker (44) and Casie Helgeson (45) adding to the Mustangs’ total.

The Mustangs’ highly-anticipated match against unbeaten Newport has been moved to Wednesday, April 27 at the Golf Club at Newcastle.

Overlake goes low against Seattle Academy

Playing at Jefferson Park Golf Course in Seattle, The Overlake School boys’ golf team played well in a 159-183 win over Seattle Academy in a 1A Emerald City League matchup.

Reid Fredrickson medaled with a 2-over-par 38, followed by Daniel Lee (39), Noah Mayer (41) and Christian Koczarski (41) contributing scores, with Seattle Academy’s low man shooting 42.
