Prep Report: Overlake girls’ lacrosse playing for state title Saturday

Led by seven big goals by Grace Grubb, the Overlake School girls’ team is one win away from the Division II state title after a 19-15 state semifinal win over Garfield at home on Wednesday night.

Other offensive contributors for the Owls were Kerri Smith (four goals, three assists), Sarah Siliverman and Zoe Pinczower (three goals), with Emma Howard and Quinn Phillips combining for nine saves in goal.

The Owls (13-1) have won seven straight games and will battle Bellevue East on Saturday at 11 a.m. for the state title at Charlie Acosta Field on the campus of Eastside Catholic in Sammamish.

Bellevue East (12-2) has scored 37 goals in its two playoff games, including a thrilling 17-16 triple-overtime victory over Klahowya, also on Wednesday.

 

Mustang fastpitch beats Issaquah, stays alive in Kingco tourney

After suffering a tough 8-7 loss in their 4A Kingco Tournament opener to Inglemoor, the Mustangs bounced back with a 3-1 loser-out victory over Issaquah on Wednesday night at Hartman Park.

Starter Emily Graves pitched a complete game, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out three.

Offensively, the Mustangs were led by Louise Chouinard, who went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, with Christine Ho also pitching in with an RBI double. Kelly Walls stole three bases and also scored a run.

This afternoon, Redmond will play the first of three loser-out games against Bothell to determine if they will advance to the Kingco/Wesco winner-to-state pigtail game.
