The Redmond baseball team came away with two wins against Eisenhower and Wenatchee during a road trip to Eastern Washington last weekend, improving their nonleague record to 3-1.

The first victory, a 5-4 comeback thriller against Eisenhower last Friday, found the Mustangs down 4-0 after three innings.

Ignited by a solo home run off the bat of pinch-hitter Michael Conforto, the Mustangs rallied with two in the fifth and two more in the sixth before junior designated hitter Colin Porter came up with a clutch two-out double, his third of the game, to drive in the winning run.

Senior lefty Mac Acker pitched the seventh to get the save in relief.

The next day against Wenatchee, the Mustangs simply overpowered the Panthers in a 10-1 blowout. The Mustangs racked up 10 hits in the game, including home runs by senior catcher Drew Fosnes and sophomore Dylan Davis.

Junior Ryan Beliel pitched four innings of shutout ball to record the win.

The Mustangs’ league opener on Tuesday against Newport was suspended due to rain with the Knights leading 4-2 in the bottom of the second inning. The Mustangs were scheduled to play Thursday night at Bobby Morris Field against Garfield after the Reporter’s deadline.

Redmond improved to 1-0 in league play and has won 59 straight Kingco golf matches dating back to the 2004 season.
