Redmond defeats Eastlake, 5-4, in 4A Kingco playoffs | Softball

Megan Nakamura's single cashed in the game-winning run in the sixth inning in Redmond's 5-4 win over Eastlake in the 4A Kingco softball tournament on Wednesday at Inglemoor High. Redmond will next play a Greater St. Helen's League team on Saturday for a state berth.

Megan Nakamura’s single cashed in the game-winning run in the sixth inning in Redmond’s 5-4 win over Eastlake in the 4A Kingco softball tournament on Wednesday at Inglemoor High. Redmond will next play a Greater St. Helen’s League team on Saturday for a state berth.

Keona Tibbs, Mara Kipnis and Kiki Milloy also had RBIs in the Eastlake win. Milloy pitched her team to victory and struck out the final batter. Kaija Gibson made her way on base four times with a hit and three walks.

In Redmond’s 6-3 loss to Woodinville on Tuesday, Gibson had three hits and three RBIs, including a homer.

Redmond began the tourney with a 5-1 victory over Inglemoor, during which Nakamura had a single, double and three RBIs and Tibbs added an RBI.
