Redmond girls’ tennis loses to Inglemoor, starts league tournament today

For the third straight match, Redmond won three of four singles matches and were swept in doubles to lose by a team score of 4-3, this time against the Inglemoor Vikings on Wednesday night at Inglemoor High.

Playing at No. 1, Sarah Du dominated Katie Coles 6-2, 6-0; No. 2 Raluca Ifrim fought off a charging Leanne Thim in the second set to win 6-1, 6-4 and Michelle Solomon came from behind to beat Erin Bankaitis 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.

The No. 3 doubles team of Marissa Craig and Sarah Kim was the only squad to take a set off of Inglemoor’s strong doubles teams, in a 2-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 loss.

The Mustangs play in the 4A Kingco Tournament starting today at Skyline High School. The single-elimination tournament runs through this weekend.

Redmond representatives in the tournament include Raluca Ifrim and Sarah Du (singles), along with the teams of Jeneal Carter/Darien French-Owen and Kelly Ren/Dana Simmons (doubles).
