Redmond High School (RHS) seniors Peter Hendron, Conner Floan and Allie Nichols were honored by the RHS Athletic Department as Athletes of the Year during a Monday graduation assembly.
Hendron was a two-sport star in baseball and basketball and maintained a 3.7 cumulative GPA.
On the basketball court, Hendron was an all-around athlete, asked to defend every position during a game.
On the baseball diamond, Hendron was named the Kingco 4A Player of Year. He batted .333 and was a force on the pitcher’s mound. He had a team-low ERA of 1.92 and finished the season with a 4-2 record. He pitched a perfect game in a 1-0 win against Eastlake during the regular season and helped lead the Mustangs to a third straight Class 4A state appearance.
Hendron will be attending Santa Clara University as a member of the Bronco baseball team.
RHS honored a second Male Athlete of the Year in Floan, who played for the Mustangs’ football and basketball teams while also maintaining a 3.7 cumulative GPA.
In football, he earned all-Kingco honors as a tight end and defensive end.
In basketball, he was a second-team, all-Kingco selection and is among the all-time school leaders in rebounds and blocks.
Floan, who recieved the Distinguished Athlete Award from the Marine Corps., will attend Linfield College in Oregon, where he will also play football.
Nichols was honored as the school’s Female Athlete of the Year for her participation in the cross country and track and field teams.
The distance runner took honors and advanced placement courses while earning a 3.7 cumulative GPA.
She was the captain of the cross country team, which placed third at the Class 4A state meet. She also was a solid force in the 1,600- and 3,200-meter races throughout the track and field season.
“She is probably one of the most positive and energetic people I have ever met, possessing great integrity, dedication and sportsmanship,” said cross country and track coach Denis Villeneuve of Nichols, who will attend Gonzaga University.
