Redmond resident wins national bridge tournament

Redmond's Frank Houmiel and his bridge partner, Shirley Roman of Kirkland, won the National 99ers Pairs event at the Fall North American Bridge Championships last Sunday in Seattle. Houmiel is a retired executive for Bunn beverage equipment, and Roman currently lives in the South American country of Colombia but continues to play in Redmond while visiting the Pacific Northwest.

The tournament was sponsored by the American Contract Bridge League (ACBL), which serves 165,000 members, 3,200 clubs and 1,100 tournaments around the world.
