Redmond Ridge Soccer Academy set to kick off second year

Redmond Ridge Soccer Academy is accepting registrations for its fall session, which will kick into gear Sept. 9 and run the following Saturdays through Nov. 25. All the action will take place from noon to 1 p.m. at East Recreational Park.

In its second year of existence, the academy focuses on fun, basic skills, good sportsmanship and free play for boys and girls ages 3-8, according to founder and local chiropractor John Towers. To register, visit www.redmondridgesocceracademy.com.

“Passion for the game is what we are striving to achieve through the academy,” said Towers, adding that the bigger purpose of youth sports should be about teaching life lessons that will help kids be successful in the future.

The academy is a for-profit business, however, all the proceeds go back to the academy and the local community.

This past June, the academy was able to give two $1,000 scholarships to local high school seniors Meghan Rodger and Benio Olewski.
