Redmond wrestlers defeat Eastlake | Prep report

Wrestling in their annual Mustangs-Wolves rivalry, Redmond got the better of Eastlake in a double dual with Skyline last night at home, 42-39. Highlights for Redmond included Brandon Long, wrestling at 132, pinning Jeremy Van Horn in one minute, 48 seconds, sophomore Marcio De Faria (138) pinning Mark Smith at the end of the second period in 3:59, Eli Grady pinning Teddy Hung in 1:29.

Also wrestling a deep Skyline team last night, the Redmond Mustangs were able to salvage two victories in a 64-9 loss.

With five matches forfeited to the Spartans due to Redmond’s shorthanded roster, Long, wrestling at 132, achieved a first-round pin of his opponent J.C. Abboud, in 57 seconds.

De Faria also won his match in an 18-11 decision over Tyler White.

 

Mustang girls falter late against Roosevelt

Thanks to a big third quarter, the Redmond girls’ team took a six-point lead into the fourth against Roosevelt on the road Wednesday night, but couldn’t hold on as they were held to just four points in a 45-41 loss.

For Redmond, Kelsey Dunn led with 12 points, followed by Makaela Hayward who added 10.

The loss dropped the girls to 1-4 in 4A Kingco play and 5-6 overall.

 

Owl boys fall to U. Prep

Getting back into 1A Emerald City League play after the holiday break, both Overlake and University Prep showed signs of rust on Wednesday night, with the final score being 34-32 in the Pumas’ favor.

For Overlake, suffering from an injury and flu bug, Cameron Lui, Kevin Sample and Will Spencer each put in eight as the team dropped to 1-3 in league play and 4-7 overall.
