Redmond wrestling wins 3A KingCo title; Redmond boys, girls basketball lose in KingCo tournament

The Redmond High wrestling team won the 3A KingCo title on Saturday at Juanita High.

The Mustangs had 10 finalists and 12 wrestlers reach the podium. Redmond finished with 217 points, beating out Lake Washington with 176.

Juda Dorsey won the 138-pound bracket, Jeremy Hernandez won the 145-pound bracket and Philip Palm won at 152 pounds. Cameron Allenshipman won the 160-pound title, Luke Kennedy won at 182 pounds and Nick Kaneko won at 195.

Redmond’s Robert Kaneko won 2A/3A Coach of the Year.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Bellevue beat Redmond, 60-57, in the semifinals of the 3A KingCo tournament on Saturday at Bellevue High.

The Mustangs (11-10) drop into a loser-out game against Lake Washington, scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday at Newport High. The winner moves on to the Sea-King District Tournament.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Bellevue beat Redmond, 47-37, on Saturday at Bellevue High.

Redmond (13-9) is scheduled to play Juanita in a loser-out game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Newport High. Redmond and Juanita split two regular-season games, and Redmond won a seeding game prior to the start of the conference tournament.

The winner moves on to the district tournament.
