SRA qualifies three boats for Nationals

Sammamish Rowing Association's (SRA) Junior Rowing team shined at the Northwest Junior Regional Championships last weekend at Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash., qualifying four boats to the Junior National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. from June 9-12.

Sammamish Rowing Association’s (SRA) Junior Rowing team shined at the Northwest Junior Regional Championships last weekend at Vancouver Lake in Vancouver, Wash., qualifying four boats to the Junior National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tenn. from June 9-12.

In order to qualify for Nationals, teams must finish in the top three of a varsity race.

The SRA junior women won the 2,000-meter Varsity 8+ (6 minutes, 53.80 seconds) and the junior men also took the Lightweight 4+ (6:59.78) for SRA’s two wins, along with the men’s varsity double team of Jackson Reed and J.D. Laurence-Chasen (7:13.52) finishing second in that event.

In addition, the Junior Girls also qualified with a third place finish in the Varsity 4x event at the U.S. Rowing Regional Championships last weekend.

Overlake School junior Sasha Tilles is a member of the Women’s Varsity 8+ as well as the Varsity 4x crews advancing to Nationals.
