• I am writing in support of Roger Goodman, my 45th Legislative District state representative. I have volunteered for his campaigns since he was first ran in 2006 and his many legislative accomplishments for the people of our state have been my reward.

During this presidential campaign, we’ve scarcely heard a mention of the major problem facing our planet: climate change. Roger trained in environmental law and uses his knowledge of the laws that protect our air, water, species, habitat and other natural resources as he serves on the House Environment Committee. He worked with the Cascade Water Alliance to sponsor and pass key pieces of legislation that secured a safe water supply for the Eastside. His awareness of the challenges we face is vital and has consistently earned him the endorsements of the Sierra Club and leading Washington environmental groups represented by the Washington Conservation Voters.

Last year, as a member of the Public Safety Committee, he joined other legislators in sponsoring and passing a bill that requires the Criminal Justice Training Commission to provide crisis intervention training to all full-time law enforcement officers in Washington. This training will provide them with the tools and resources to respond effectively to crisis situations involving people with chemical dependency or mental health issues. In addition, for the last decade Roger has worked with a broad coalition of civic and health organizations, partnering with judges and state legislators to spur a shift from incarceration to treatment of offenders with addiction and mental illness problems.

Roger has provided us with solid leadership. His dedication, legal training and common sense approaches have led to solutions that go a long way toward making our communities more just and safer for all of us. Please join me in re-electing Roger Goodman!

• I’m writing to express my support for Roger Goodman, state representative for the 45th Legislative District.

First of all, Roger is a nice guy and is always responsive to input or questions from constituents. And, his legislative record on behalf of us all in the 45th is truly remarkable! He has been endorsed by the King County Democrats and the 45th District Democrats, and is ranked as one of the most effective legislators in the country, and his work promoting public safety in Washington is unparalleled.

Accordingly, he has been endorsed by the Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Bothell and Woodinville firefighters, as well as the Washington Fire Chiefs, the Washington State Troopers Association, the Washington Council of Police and Sheriffs, the Council of Metropolitan Police and Sheriffs and the Fraternal Order of Police, as well as NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, the Washington Housing Alliance, the Washington Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club, among others.

In the Legislature, Roger is a senior member of the Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Committee and a staunch advocate for laws that protect our environment. He’s earned a lifetime environmental scorecard rating of 98 percent, and a recent score of 100 percent with the Washington Conservation Voters. He played a vital role in the passing of the existing Clean Air Act.

Roger’s record of responding to critical issues with achievable solutions makes him the best candidate on the ballot. He has led measures to reduce drunk driving, reform our domestic violence laws, and enact better emergency preparedness. After the terrible windstorm in 2006, he passed a bill that provided tax credits to gas station for installing backup generators, allowing easier fuel availability after a disaster. He has successfully worked to pass countless bills that improve the lives of Washingtonians through positive welfare and education improvements. Among these are a bill that helps parents stay with their children and reduces the amount of children in foster care, and a bill that improves adoption procedures and helps reunite siblings. Roger also sponsored and passed a bill that allowed for the expansion of Children’s Hospital from 250 to 600 beds.

Roger is a truly excellent public servant and I am thrilled to have him representing me.
