In an effort to improve the community’s physical health, increase safety and make the city more walkable, the City of Redmond is supporting three community walking audits near the Avondale corridor, Benjamin Rush Elementary School and downtown Redmond.

Community members are invited to join city staff and transportation experts on the walks, which will include facilitated discussions by Feet First, a regional pedestrian advocacy organization.

The hour and a half tours will provide an opportunity for community members to document challenges and opportunities for creating a walkable and safe neighborhood. Following each walk will be a discussion about findings and next steps.

On June 11, the walking audit for the Avondale corridor will be from 10 a.m. to noon. Walkers will meet at 180th Avenue Northeast and Avondale Road Northeast.

The walking audit for Ben Rush will be June 11 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Walkers will meet at the school at 6101 152nd Ave. N.E.

On June 16, the downtown audit will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Walkers will meet at City Hall, at 15670 N.E. 85th St.

Space is limited to 15 people per walking audit. Register in advance by emailing lisa@feetfirst.org or calling (206) 652-2310.

The community walking audits are funded by a grant from theĀ Seattle-King County Public Health Department.
