The Puget Sound Regional Council (PSRC) has awarded the City of Redmond one of six VISION 2040 awards.

The award recognizes the city’s work in support of the region’s commitment to the well-being of people and communities, economic vitality and a healthy environment.

Redmond’s award was given for the city’s Digital Planning and Development Suite. The award was presented at the PSRC’s General Assembly meeting at the Arctic Club Hotel in Seattle. Redmond Mayor John Marchione accepted on behalf of the city alongside Council Member Hank Margeson.

Marchione noted how the suite provides a new level of transparency and access for all customers. The suite consists of Redmond’s digital Comprehensive Plan, E-Zoning Code and Property Viewer and E-Track online permit portal.

In presenting the award, Kitsap County Commissioner Charlotte Garrido commented, “It is fitting that as the home of Microsoft, Redmond is leading the way in government transparency through new digital tools; surely other cities and counties are eager to follow suit.”

All of these tools are accessible on the city’s website.
