Celebration of Lavender and Art on tap for July 13-14

The first ever Celebration of Lavender and Art in the Sammamish Valley will take place in four locations between Woodinville and Redmond on July 13-14. Entry to the farm venues is free.

Visit Dr. Maze’s Farm for lavender picking, crafts, classes, demonstrations and more. Fun activities for kids and adults include hayrides, animals, mazes and the opening of Dr. Maze’s Lavender Labyrinth. Enjoy lavender lemonade and teas. Watch the distillation process, as well as cooking with lavender in the Dutch oven demonstrations. Open both days from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (15410 N.E. 124th St., Redmond)

Enjoy lavender treats while U-pick at Woodinville Lavender’s farm and store just south of the roundabouts in the Woodinville Hollywood District. Learn about growing at the Master Gardener lavender talk at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. See the cooking demonstration at 2 p.m., create lavender wands from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and see the lavender distillation process. Woodinville Lavender will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5  p.m. on Sunday. (14223 Woodinville-Redmond Road N.E., Redmond)

Apple cider tasting is happening at the Minea Farm store. A variety of different apple ciders, including a fresh pressed lavender apple cider, will be available from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. (13404 Woodinville-Redmond Road N.E., Redmond)

Also of note are the extensive lavender and perennial gardens that surround three renovated Woodinville homes at Apple Farm Village. Linger in the courtyard wine garden and do some wine tasting at three highly acclaimed wineries, Lauren Ashton Cellars, Otis Kenyon Wines and Zerba Cellars. Experience fine art paintings by local artists in the “Art on the Fence” exhibit in the courtyard at Apple Farm Village. See artists in action painting throughout the weekend and special demonstrations by sculptor Tim Schriever from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and ceramic potter Robert Moreno from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.
