Officers investigate telephone scam from Education Hill | Police blotter for July 19-21

The police blotter feature is both a description of a small selection of police incidents and a statistical roundup of all calls to the Redmond Police Department that are dispatched to on-duty police officers. The Redmond Reporter Police Blotter is not intended to be representative of all police calls originating in Redmond, which gets more than 500 calls (emergency and non-emergency) per week.
Sunday, July 21
Shoplifting: Officers responded to a reported shoplifting at 6 p.m. from a business in the 2200 block of 148th Avenue Northeast in Overlake. The suspect was identified and will be charged through investigation with third-degree theft.
Theft: Redmond police took a theft report at 4:44 p.m. from the 16400 block of Northeast 74th Street downtown. There is no suspect information.
Vehicle prowl: At 11:37 a.m., a resident in the 7500 block of Old Redmond Road in Grass Lawn contacted police to report an unknown suspect had gained entry into her vehicle and stolen items from the trunk. An investigation is pending.
Fraud: At 7:56 a.m., it was reported that credit cards, debit cards and a business checkbook were stolen from a Redmond man’s vehicle in the 14200 block of Northeast 63rd Court in Grass Lawn. The access devices were fraudulently used numerous time throughout the Eastside and King County area.
Saturday, July 20
Vehicle prowl: Electronic items were reported stolen at 11:28 a.m. from a vehicle at 163rd Place Northeast and Northeast 73rd Way in Overlake that was possibly left unlocked.
Friday, July 19
Shoplifting: Officers arrested two females shoplifting downtown.
Found property: At 3:08 p.m., Redmond police took custody of found property from the 17200 block of Northeast 104th Street on Education Hill.
Scam: A resident in the 10900 block of 176th Circle Northeast on Education Hill reported being the victim of a telephone scam at 11:56 a.m. She realized the call was fraudulent before falling for the scam.
Bicycle theft: At 9:18 a.m., officers took a report of a stolen bicycle from the 8200 block of 161st Avenue Northeast downtown.
