Three additional Lake Washington School District (LWSD) students have received National Merit college-sponsored scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC).

Vita Shubin from Redmond High School will receive a scholarship from the University of Southern California. Rachel Ainslie from Eastlake High School will receive a scholarship from Gonzaga University and Amanda Collyer from International Community School will receive a scholarship from Brigham Young University.

About 1,800 additional winners of National Merit scholarships financed by colleges and universities were announced by NMSC on July 15. These additional winners join about 2,500 other college-sponsored award recipients who were announced in late May.

Officials of each sponsor college selected their scholarship winners from among finalists in the National Merit scholarship program who plan to attend their institution. These awards provide between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study at the institution financing the scholarship.
