The Redmond Historical Society announces the last of the 10th anniversary Old Redmond Historic Walking Tours. The final tour will be held on Sept. 15 as part of a special Haunted History Walking Tour and Storytelling event.
Local historian Tom Hitzroth is the man with the stories, gossip and names that make the early history of Redmond so interesting. At 4:30 p.m., he will conduct a family-friendly Haunted History Walking Tour, and at 7 p.m., he will conduct the second Haunted History Walking Tour. Both tours begin at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center, 16600 N.E. 80th St. Registration is required by the Friday before the tour. RSVPs are necessary and additional information is available at http://www.redmond.gov/Government/HistoricPreservation/.
At 4:15 p.m., a Redmond Historical Society video, “Redmond Views from History,” will be shown, along with displays and refreshments will be served. From 5:55 p.m. to 7 p.m., there will be story-telling with Native American, Salish storyteller Roger Fernandes, and with Stephanie Hofland’s Readers Theater. Fernandes will discuss local Salish traditions and mysteries and Hofland will entertain the audience with an orchestrated and performance-based story about Redmond’s school boys from pioneering families.
