Bellevue man dies in traffic collision on Union Hill Road

Redmond Police traffic units are on the scene of a two-car fatality traffic collision in the 19000 block of Union Hill Road that occurred between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. this morning.

According to Officer Mike Dowd, a passenger vehicle driven by a 22-year-old Bellevue man was traveling eastbound on Union Hill Road when the vehicle collided with a construction heavy equipment front loader causing significant damage to the vehicle.

The passenger vehicle driver was treated at the scene and an aid vehicle transported the driver, but he died en route to the hospital. The driver of the front loader was unhurt.

Witnesses stated that speed may have been a factor.

Union Hill Road will be closed for several hours between 188th Avenue Northeast and 192nd Avenue Northeast for investigation.
