Redmond boys will play Newport tonight | 4A KingCo basketball tournament

Redmond will take on Newport at 8:15 p.m. tonight in a 4A KingCo boys basketball tournament loser-out game at Redmond High.

Redmond defeated Bothell, 61-58, in overtime on Friday in the second round.

Redmond led, 28-24, at halftime and the game was tied, 46-46, at the end of regulation time.

The Mustangs outscored the Cougars, 15-12, in overtime to win the loser’s-bracket contest. Kevin Carpenter led Redmond with 19 points and Justin Harshman added 16.

Issaquah beat Redmond, 83-40, in the opening round on Thursday.

In other loser-out games today and tonight at Redmond High, Woodinville will play Skyline at 3 p.m. (girls), Skyline will play Inglemoor at 4:45 p.m. (boys) and Eastlake will battle Issaquah at 6:30 p.m. (girls).

Four 4A KingCo basketball winner’s-bracket tournament games were put in the books on Saturday.

At Redmond High in boys action, Woodinville defeated Newport, 53-48, and will face Issaquah in the championship game at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday. Issaquah beat Skyline, 66-59, to advance.

For the girls, Bothell defeated Eastlake, 74-51, and Inglemoor beat Woodinville, 53-36, and both winners will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday in the title game.

Both winners on Thursday will be 4A KingCo’s No. 1 seeds to state.

Loser-out games will continue on Thursday, and games for the No. 2 seeds to state will take place on Saturday.
