Woman who was struck by vehicle dies at Harborview

The Redmond Police Department has been notified that the pedestrian — a woman in her early 60s — who was struck by a vehicle on Tuesday died from her injuries on Thursday while at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a press release. The woman’s name has not yet been released.

Members of the Redmond police and fire departments responded to the accident at 7:32 p.m.

A preliminary investigation reveals an adult male was driving northbound on 166th Avenue Northeast and struck the woman on the north side of Northeast 79th Street as she was walking eastbound across the intersection. There was one witness in a separate vehicle who provided information to police at the scene.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators. At this time, investigators do not believe drugs and/or alcohol are factors. Investigators do believe that rain and poor visibility may be factors in the collision.

The case is under investigation by the Redmond Police Traffic Division.
