Jean Harding, the 83-year-old driver who had been airlifted out of Marymoor Park in King County near Redmond following a three-car collision on Friday, died Saturday.
According to the King County medical examiner, the cause of death was multiple blunt-force injuries. Harding died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
As previously reported, the collision occurred at about 4 p.m. Friday on Avondale Road at Northeast 116th Street. Redmond police and fire, as well as the King County Sheriff’s Office responded to the call and according to a Redmond Police Department (RPD) press release, there were no passengers in any of the three vehicles.
According to the release, preliminary investigations have revealed that Harding was traveling southbound on Avondale Road and was turning left onto Northeast 116th Street. She was transported from the scene in an ambulance to Marymoor Park, where she was airlifted to Harborview.
The collision involved Harding’s vehicle and two others — both of which were traveling northbound on Avondale Road. The release states that one of the northbound vehicles was struck and propelled over the guardrail on the east side of Avondale Road.
A male driver sustained minor injuries and extricated himself from the vehicle. The third vehicle driver, a female, sustained minor injuries, had front end damage to the vehicle and was able to drive away from the scene after cooperating with officers.
The case is still under investigation by the Redmond Police Traffic Division.
