Dubliner Irish Pub: ‘come in as a friend, leave as family’

The Dubliner Irish Pub and Cafe is now open for business in Redmond after its official opening on Nov. 6.

The pub’s owner, Ben Wahbi, said opening spaces like the pub is what he does best as he sat at the high wooden bar on a recent afternoon.

“I love to create neighborhood bars,” Wahbi said.

The interior of the pub is spacious with a large Irish flag hung on the wall and with wooden tables arranged throughout and a sectioned-off bar.

The pub boasts 24 taps, with the majority of them rotating seasonally or whenever the keg runs dry.

Wahbi said they offer a variety of both domestic and import beers, including honey ale and Asian pear cider.

“We pick only good beer, we taste our beer before it goes on tap,” he said.

The pub is open to all ages, and has a full menu that has many Irish and fusion food offerings. The pub also has a full liquor selection.

Some of the more popular items include shepherd’s pie, corned beef and cabbage and Reuben sandwiches.

Wahbi said everything is slow-cooked and handmade.

It’s also turning out to be pretty popular.

“The food is flying out of our shelf,” he said.

The Dubliner has a patio for outdoor seating, but with Puget Sound winters, it likely won’t be too busy outside until the sun reappears next spring.

With 12 years of experience running a pub, Wahbi said he’s looking forward to building a customer base by creating a welcoming environment for everyone who walks through his doors.

His motto for the pub is “come in as a friend, leave as family,” he said.

Many of his current employees used to work for him at his previous pub, creating an instant familiarity.

The pub shows football games and other sports. Wahbi hopes to expand the social offerings of the pub to include Monday night trivia and a monthly comedy night.

Another selling point for the pub is the large parking lot, located off of Northeast 90th Avenue and 154th Avenue Northeast.

He’s looking forward to getting to know his customers, both now and in the future.

“I love talking to people,” he said.

The Dubliner joins other watering holes in the area, including Palmers East, JJ Mahoney’s Irish Pub and Sam’s Tavern.

The pub is located at 15327 N.E. 90th St. and offers lunch and dinner daily, including a happy hour.

The pub also has games like darts.
