Redmond Mustangs assistant coach Trevor Long couldn’t have been prouder of junior wrestler Molly Williams for her performance at the state wrestling tournament at the Tacoma Dome.

Williams, who competed in the girls tournament in the 115-pound weight class, had an overall record of 4-1 en route to a third-place finish at the Mat Classic on Feb. 16 at the Tacoma Dome. Williams pinned Hanford’s Taylor Robbins in the second round of the third/fourth-place match. Williams lost 8-7 to Yelm wrestler Phoenix Dubose in the 115-pound semifinals.

“Molly is one of the most determined wrestlers I have ever coached. I appreciate all the time she has put in. It really shows out on the mat. She cares about the sport and she loves her team. I’m really proud of her,” Long said. “We had a lot of aspirations to make it to the finals for sure, but we finished up third (place) and will come back strong next year.”
