Playing at Jackson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Jackson Safon fired round of his life, a 1-under 35, to lead the Mustangs to a 190-209 victory over the Ballard Beavers.

Playing at Jackson Park Golf Course in Seattle, Jackson Safon fired round of his life, a 1-under 35, to lead the Mustangs to a 190-209 victory over the Ballard Beavers.

Also shooting well was Jimbo Curtin (37), Conrad Croshaw (38), and the trio of Lyle Rudnicki, Cole Helgeson and Wade Blommel (40).

The win evened the Mustangs’ record at 1-1 on the season. They play Issaquah this afternoon at Bear Creek Country Club.

 

Redmond soccer draws with Edmonds-Woodway

The Mustang girls’ soccer team came back from a 2-0 deficit to force a 2-2 draw with Edmonds-Woodway in a nonleague matchup at home on Tuesday night.

Getting shut out in the first half, Meghan Cooley came up big, feeding assists to Kristen Hayman (57th minute) and Andrea Larson (60th minute) to tie the score.

The Mustangs now stand 1-0-1 on the season.

 

Overlake tennis nips Sammamish

In a non-league matchup, the Owl boys’ tennis team snuck past Sammamish 4-3.

In singles play, the only player to win was No. 4 Trevor Marcus, defeating James Cu 6-1, 6-3, but the Owls came back in doubles action, sweeping to earn the match win.

Bob Gardner and Ethan Hayden combined for a 6-4, 6-4 win, Preston Ballou and Andrew Gavrila won 6-4, 6-2 and No. 3 doubles Pavin Browne and Mac Hewitt won a thriller, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (5).

 

Owl volleyball routs Sammamish

The Owl girls had no trouble beating Sammamish on their home court on Wednesday night, winning an early-season non-league contest 3-0 via set scores of 25-11, 25-16 and 25-10.

Kirsten Parris led the offense, notching 11 kills and four aces, with Louise Chouinard contributing six kills. Andreea Gavrilescu led the team with five aces and setter Vanessa Rosato recorded 22 assists.
