The first-ever World Dance Party (WDP) Eastside was held on Sept. 19 at the Old Redmond Schoolhouse Community Center.

People of all ages — families, individuals and groups of friends — attended, showing their enthusiasm for dancing. Those who initially come to watch also joined in on the fun.

The potluck cuisine varied, including Indian, Mexican, American and Eastern Europe.

“People were engaged and happy, and gave us feedback on how much they loved trying out the dances, the food, the energy of the dancers and how it gathered different people together,” said Gee Randhawa, who was is a member of the WDP Eastside planning committee. “Almost everyone agreed they would come back for more, so we hope people will join in with the planning and make the next event bigger and better.”

For more information about WDP Eastside or how to get involved, Randhawa said to visit WDP Eastside’s Facebook page or WDPeastside@gmail.com.

“We cannot thank everyone enough for joining us to make the World Dance Party Eastside such a success, with over 200 people attending Saturday’s event,” she said.
