Strong-arm robbery suspect flees the scene across Redmond Way

Several citizens chased a strong-arm robbery suspect and a Redmond police K-9 unit tracked the man, but couldn't locate him on Tuesday.

Several citizens chased a strong-arm robbery suspect and a Redmond police K-9 unit tracked the man, but couldn’t locate him on Tuesday.

Officers responded to the scene at 4:21 p.m. in the 15900 block of Redmond Way, according to the Redmond Police Department.

The report states that a female victim was loading groceries into her vehicle when she was approached from behind by the suspect, who grabbed her purse — which the victim was wearing — by the shoulder straps. A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to rip the purse away from the victim.

While the victim yelled for help, the citizens pursued the suspect, who fled across Redmond Way.

The suspect was described as an Asian male in his 20s, 5-foot-8, thick build and wearing a blue cap with ear flaps, khaki jacket and blue jeans.
