Sally Chen, candidate for position 4 on the Redmond City Council, claims she will bring a fresh perspective to the council.

Yet, to date, the only fresh or substantial comments to come from Ms. Chen’s campaign are complaints, which, by the way, are biennial events from one side or another about the misuse of her signs.

A look at the candidate’s list of endorsements is hardly a harbinger of any fresh perspectives that might come from her as a councilmember.

She is endorsed by the ordinary, non-creative, unimaginative, orthodox, commonplace establishment players who so far have been lacking in genuinely fresh and original approaches to any of the problems from growth to transportation that beset the community, the region and the state.

If this candidate’s approach is akin to the hidebound conventional wisdom of the people who endorse her, it is unlikely that she will offer anything other than the few platitudes that have already arisen from her candidacy.

Her priorities will, no doubt, reflect those of the old tired, and tiresome, base that supports her.

For position 4 on the City Council, Kimberly Allen will best represent the citizens of Redmond against the calcified approaches of entrenched interests.
