Drivers need to pay close attention to pedestrians | Letter to the Editor

Every intersection in Washington state is a crosswalk, whether it is marked or not. Pedestrians have the right-of-way over vehicles in every intersection, even if there are no white crosswalk markings drawn on the street.

Every intersection in Washington state is a crosswalk, whether it is marked or not. Pedestrians have the right-of-way over vehicles in every intersection, even if there are no white crosswalk markings drawn on the street. While walking in my Education Hill neighborhood, many hundreds or even thousands of cars have failed to properly stop for me at intersections. When you are driving, please stop when you see a pedestrian waiting at the corner to cross the street. Thanks!
