Election signs: Consider our right to ‘freedom from litter’ | Letter

Along with the falling leaves of autumn, the fallen yard signs of the 2014 election litter Redmond. Their messages have cluttered our streets since August.

Along with the falling leaves of autumn, the fallen yard signs of the 2014 election litter Redmond. Their messages have cluttered our streets since August. Their removal is overdue. The city quotes a code that runs contrary to the environmental stewardship representative of our proud town. “Freedom of speech” is the statute that allows the seasonal pollution. Let’s act to ensure future politicians update their method of campaigning to a digital, 21st century format, which ends the wasteful litter that we have to endure every time the ballots are sent out. Redmond, please consider our right to “freedom from litter” prior to the next election!
