It saddens me to read that Susan Rice has withdrawn from being considered for the State Department to replace Hillary Clinton. This tells me a lot about America and the strangle hold that the Republican Party has over the country.

One must ask where was the party when, under the Bush administration, all sorts of lies were told — lies of which they knew about but nevertheless told the country to justify their illegal war against Iraq and the secret prisons they established all over the world.

In the case of Susan Rice, it would not surprise me if she was deliberately set up by the CIA. Republicans have proven time and time again they will go to any length to justify the continued control of this country by the military industrial complex.

And they have made no secret about their deep-seated hate for President Obama. This also goes for their refusal to have the 1 percent ever having to pay for the damage caused to the country in their quest for more and more wealth.

Truth be told most could not care less about the welfare of the country.
