Innovation Triangle represents region at investment summit

Innovation Triangle works to create business opportunities in Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond.

Economic Development officials representing theInnovation Triangle, a collaboration between the cities of Bellevue, Kirkland and Redmond together with the Economic Development Council of Seattle & King County (EDC) will attend the SelectUSA Summit in Washington, D.C. from June 20 to 22.

The Summit brings together economic development professionals from across the United States and foreign companies interested in investing in U.S. businesses or having a presence in this country. Innovation Triangle representatives have meetings scheduled with over two-dozen companies interested in pursuing a U.S. location on the Eastside within the Innovation Triangle.

“The cities within our Innovation Triangle offer a workforce ready for a company’s expansion and entry into US Markets,” said city of Kirkland council member Tom Neir, chair of the Kirkland City Council’s Planning and Economic Development Committee, in a press release. “The talent we offer is equipped with some of the highest education attainment numbers in the country. We have a higher percentage of workers in high-technology industries than in other top tech hubs such as San Jose, Raleigh, Austin and Denver. This, paired with our geographic epicenter – equidistant by air from Europe and Asia – and the high quality of life on Seattle’s Eastside make us a very attractive location.”

SelectUSA is an annual trade show sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce to market the U.S. as a location for foreign direct investment. Over 2,800 delegates from around the world will be attending this year’s show.

The Innovation Triangle seeks to promote the Eastside as the ideal location for technology investments by marketing to businesses outside the area, helping businesses that are here to expand and remain here, and leveraging the talent pool for infrastructure and other investments. The Port of Seattle provides funding support for the Innovation Triangle partners to attend and exhibit at SelectUSA and other promotional events and activities.
