Several students from Redmond have been selected to participate in the 41st biennial All-Northwest Band, Orchestra, Treble Choir, Mixed Choir, Jazz Band and/or Jazz Choir events in 2009.
Students from the six Northwest states (Washington, Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Wyoming) will convene in Spokane on Feb. 12-15. The finest local musicians in each of these musical genres will rehearse under the direction of world-renowned conductors and present their final concerts in Spokane’s INB Performing Arts Center.
Redmond resident Bryan Djunaedi, a student at the Lake Washington School District’s International Community School, was selected for All-Northwest Orchestra.
Redmond High School students selected for All-Northwest Orchestra are Noah Cort and Andrew Pang.
Darren French-Owen of Redmond High School was selected for All-Northwest Band.
Erika John of Redmond High School was selected for All-Northwest Choir.
In addition, several Redmond High School music students were selected for All-State ensembles, as follows:
Beserat Tafesse, All-State Band; Sharon Li, All-State Band; Rebecca Li, All-State Orchestra; Melissa Boyer, All-State Orchestra; Kyle Hiebert, All-State Orchestra; Chelsea Kim, All-State Orchestra; Kevin Shen, All-State Orchestra; Estelle Martorelli, All-State Orchestra; Claire Asplund, All-State Orchestra; and Rachel Wulff, All-State Choir.
In addition to local 10th through 12th grade students selected to participate in All-Northwest and All-State music ensembles in 2009, the following students from local junior high schools have been chosen for these honors.
In the senior high school category (9th grade), selected music students are: Sierra Allen, Redmond Junior High, All-State Concert Band; Emma Wright, Redmond Junior High, All-State Symphonic Choir; Alex Lin, Redmond Junior High, All-State Orchestra.
