Redmond Saturday Market kicks off 35th season

The Redmond Saturday Market celebrated the opening of its 35th season on May 1 at 7730 Leary Way.

“The opening day of the market was a huge success,” said Redmond Saturday Market manager Martha Tyler. We had more people there than the past 17 years of opening days that I’ve participated in.”

Highlights included Mayor John Marchione’s presentation of the Pioneer Award to longtime vendor Beth Tait, 91; a 20-piece pep band from Redmond High School, directed by Andy Robertson; a pen of adorable animals from Heart of Dreams Alpacas and appearances by The Redmond Fire Company Engine and KidsQuest Children’s Museum.

“There was something for every age, all day. This is a community event and the community came out to support us,” said Tyler.

The Redmond Saturday Market features all grown-in-Washington or made-in-Washington produce, specialty foods, arts, crafts and jewelry. There is free entertainment every week, as well.

Market hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. each Saturday through Oct. 30. For a list of vendors and calendar of events, visit www.RedmondSaturdayMarket.org.
