Bear Creek students receive commissions to West Point

The Bear Creek School's Sam Humphries and John Lee both received commissions to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. They received their commissions in person on June 10 from Marion Thorkildsen, West Point admissions office representative, who attended Bear Creek's annual Upper School Honors Assembly.

The Bear Creek School’s Sam Humphries and John Lee both received commissions to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. They received their commissions in person on June 10 from Marion Thorkildsen, West Point admissions office representative, who attended Bear Creek’s annual Upper School Honors Assembly.

Humphries received a recommendation from Congressman Dave Reichert of the 8th Congressional District, and Lee received a recommendation from Congresswoman Suzan DelBene from the 1st Congressional District.

Humphries was captain on the varsity soccer team, acted in many drama productions and received the Washington Principals’ Scholars Award. Lee was an Eagle Scout, played varsity basketball and was a National Merit Commended Student.
