City of Redmond to hold public meeting for Transportation Master Plan on July 21

On July 21 from 5 to 8 p.m., the City of Redmond will hold a community meeting for the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) update.

On July 21 from 5 to 8 p.m., the City of Redmond will hold a community meeting for the Transportation Master Plan (TMP) update.

The meeting will be at City Hall, 15670 N.E. 85th St., and is the second of three planned public events to give residents and business owners the opportunity to contribute to the plan about how they travel in the city and how they want to travel in the future.

The TMP is the document city officials and staff refer to when it is time to develop a transportation facility or program. It determines how transportation funding is allocated and what long-term projects and programs will be the city’s focus. Resident and business involvement now helps shape the plan’s direction and is critical to ensuring the results are responsive to citizen priorities.

“Preparing the TMP is like building a house,” said senior transportation engineer Lei Wu. “We want the community to know that the house is being built in Redmond and to endorse its blueprints for architectural style. We will use that information to select and furnish each room with specific items based on a budget to turn the conceptual house into a livable home.”

Participants will get an update on the draft plan and break into facilitated discussion groups to give their ideas directly to city staff. Refreshments and door prizes will be available.
