Redmond police arrested a 16-year-old convicted felon from SeaTac after he and two other teenagers attempted to burglarize a home on Education Hill Monday afternoon.

Redmond police received a call at 2:19 p.m. from a man, who reported his wife was at their home in the 15800 block of Northeast 117th Street, where three teenage suspects were trying to break in, according to Redmond police spokesman Jim Bove.

The husband told police that one teenager was ringing the doorbell while another was trying to enter the house through the sliding door in the backyard.

The man’s wife, who was home, heard the doorbell ringing, saw the other suspect trying to get in and that was when she called her husband, who then immediately called 911, according to Bove.

None of the suspects actually entered the house as police arrived within minutes. The teenager who was ringing the door bell was caught by police and arrested for trespassing and possession of burglary tools, according to Bove. The other two suspects had already left the area, Bove said. The investigation is ongoing.
