Redmond’s fast start tames Roughriders | Prep report

A huge first quarter helped the Redmond boys basketball team to a 57-52 4A Kingco victory last night at home to open the new year. The Mustangs scored 26 points in the first quarter while holding Roosevelt to just three, but the Roughriders mounted a big comeback the rest of the game, getting to within five at the final buzzer.

The Mustangs scored 26 points in the first quarter while holding Roosevelt to just three, but the Roughriders mounted a big comeback the rest of the game, getting to within five at the final buzzer.

For Redmond, Jason Harrington and Leslie Ellis led with 19 points each.

With the win, the Mustangs advanced above .500 at 3-2 at 4A Kingco play and 8-3 overall.

The team plays against Newport on the road this Friday, tipoff at 8 p.m.

 

Grizzlies beat Lindbergh

Playing the Lindbergh Eagles of the 3A Seamount League on Tuesday night in an exhibition game, the Bear Creek boys notched a 57-54 win.

In a great matchup that saw the score tied at 28-28 at halftime, guards Luke Blankenbeckler and Jesse Leuenberger led the Grizzlies with 19 and 12 points, respectively.

The Grizzly boys improved to 9-2 overall and pick up their Sea-Tac 2B schedule this Friday against Seattle Lutheran.
