Deadlines set for Feb. 9 special election

People planning to vote in the Feb. 9 special election have until Monday, Jan. 11 for online and paper voter registration applications and updates for King County voters currently registered and persons who are not already registered to vote in Washington state.

However, if you are registered to vote in King County and miss the Jan. 11 deadline to update your address, you can still vote by contacting the county’s election office at 206-296-8683 or by e-mail at elections@kingcounty.gov to obtain a ballot.

Monday, Feb. 1 is the deadline for in-person voter registration at the Elections Department – Tukwila (9010 East Marginal Way S) for persons residing in King County who are not already registered to vote in Washington.

Election officials encourage people to use King County’s online “Your Voter Guide” feature to double-check their registration information to make sure that their ballot reaches them directly. If you know your address has changed within King County since last November, call or e-mail Elections with your changes at 206-296-8683 or elections@kingcounty.gov .

Those who have moved to another county within Washington state, must submit an online or paper voter registration application to that county.

Ballots will be mailed to voters on Jan. 20.
