After celebrating its 22nd anniversary of helping homeless cats and dogs last month, Homeward Pet Adoption Center in Woodinville completed their 20,000th adoption on March 18.

The pet, Ava, is a four-month-old Torti kitten and was adopted by Peggy LaReaux.

In honor of this milestone, LaReaux was surprised with no fee for the adoption and a gift basket full of toys, treats and a blanket to help Ava settle into her new home.

Homeward Pet is a no-kill, nonprofit animal adoption center that takes care of homeless animals from all over the state, whether surrendered by owners or transferred from other rescue organizations or shelters that euthanize.
