LWSD announces administrative changes for 2012-13 school year

The Lake Washington School District (LWSD) announces a number of additional administrative changes for the 2012-13 school year.

Heather Frazier, who currently serves as the assistant principal at Rosa Parks Elementary School in Redmond, will become the principal at Carl Sandburg Elementary and Discovery Community schools in Kirkland. She will replace Mark Blomquist, who will move to an associate principal position at Inglewood Middle School in Sammamish. Blomquist will replace Monica Garcia, who will move to an elementary associate principal position, serving Rosa Parks and several other large elementary schools on the east side of the district.

Jennifer Hodges has been selected to serve as the new principal at Rose Hill Elementary School, which is in Kirkland but also serves students in Redmond. She will replace Karin Janik, who is retiring. Hodges is from Seattle Public Schools (SPS), where she has been for 15 years and is currently serving as assistant principal at Aki Kurose Middle School.

Erin Bowser has been selected as the new principal for Rose Hill and Stella Schola middle schools in Redmond. Bowser will replace Laurynn Evans, who is leaving the district. Bowser currently serves as the assistant principal at Rose Hill and Stella Schola.

Michael Griffen has been selected to serve as the new associate principal at Rose Hill and Stella Schola. Currently, Griffen serves as the assistant principal at Lakes High School in Pierce County.

Sean Cassidy, the current assistant principal at Redmond Junior High School, has been selected as the principal at Evergreen Middle School in Redmond. He will replace Jan Olson, who is retiring.

Jeff Larson has been selected to serve in the new associate principal position at Redmond High School (RHS). Jeff has been at RHS since 2004, teaching math and health and serving as the head coach for boys basketball. This year, Larson supported the administrative team at RHS by serving as a part-time athletic director and portfolio coordinator.

Steven Thatcher has been selected to serve as the new associate principal at Eastlake High School, which is in Sammamish but also serves students in Redmond. Thatcher currently serves as a full-time assistant principal and intern at Thomas Jefferson Junior High School in Salt Lake City.

LWSD still has two associate principal positions open at Redmond and Kirkland middle schools, which will be announced at a later date.
