Lake Washington School District’s (LWSD) Transition Academy, the subject of a series of feature stories in the Redmond Reporter last fall through this June, was recently honored with Provail’s Wyckoff Corporate Partnership Award, in recognition of its efforts to provide employment opportunities to young adults with developmental disabilities.

LWSD was nominated because of the exceptional services provided to help high school graduates with disabilities gain additional employment and social skills at the Transition Academy. The school’s work and its spirit of innovation and collaboration, with community-based businesses and non-profit organizations, have created exciting opportunities for these young people to live full and satisfying lives in their community.

The award was presented to Transition Academy co-director Richard Haines and Paul Vine, LWSD director of safety net and ELL (English Language Learner) programs, at Provail’s annual Wyckoff luncheon and awards ceremony.
